Angažirana muzika danas ima marginalan status, pa ovdje donosimo neka značajnija djela s progresivnom tematikom. Riječima slavnog (marksističkog) filozofa i teoretičara glazbe Theodora Adorna: ako glazba "odustane od svoje autonomije, prodat će se etabliranom poretku, a ako pokuša ostati striktno unutar svojih autonomnih ograničenja, postaje jednako izložena opasnosti kooptacije, živeći bezopasan život u uskome okviru koji joj je namijenjen."
